A Street Kid Named Bazza

Geronimo Stilton's
Answer the following questions below:

What do you think the story is about? Why do you think this? I think the story is about a street kid named bazza how is looking for a normal family because he lives on the streets.

On the first page in the story, what you gather from the opening sentence? I gathered that the boy who is homeless is trying to find a home.

What language features has the author used in the first opening sentence? The author has used a sort of carrying language feature in the first opening sentence.

What does the word ‘old fogies’ mean to you? I think it means old people or just your parents or older brothers or sisters

Reading the first page and a half, how do you think the author is feeling about his parents inviting young street kids round? Use a quote from the story to support your answer. kids living on the street, battlers who have no money and homeless kids who can come back anytime they want but they can't let there own children back any time.

Tell me about the boy’s family, what are they like?  In the story they are fussy an idiot, think they're funny but they're not, kills bug’s for no-reason and thinks they can read each other's future.

Looking at the illustrations on page 14, how do they support the boy’s description of the boy’s family? They look like a not family but to bazza he thinks they are a normal family.

Why did Barry also known as ‘Bazza’ send shivers up the boy’s spine? Because he looked tough and because barry doesn't sound like a name for a boy who looks like he wants to kill someone.

What does the word aggro mean? I think the word aggro means angry or something like that.

Write the word aggro into a sentence. When my sister and brother get me aggro I feel like hitting them.

How is the boy feeling towards Barry so far, how do we know this? I think the boy is feeling sad and sorry for bazza because he has no family to look after him and because he has no friends.

How do you feel about Barry? Why? I feel sorry about bazza because he doesn't have a home or a family.

Why would it matter that Barry’s father used to hit him? How has this made Barry? I think it has made barry think he could beat other people up because he used to get beaten up by his dad.

We can see that some of the word in the story are in italics, why do you think this? I think the italics are there so the author can change the language features.

Can you give me an example of a quote from the story that is in italics?  One of my quotes from the story are Why did I say that.

Summarise what you have read in this story so far. Bazza finds a home but he thinks he doesn't fit in and he writes a letter to the boy.

Read to middle of page 18, can you predict what will happen in the rest of the story? Bazza will find a family who he can fit in with and he lives happily ever after.

The Lost

THE LOST
There were two boys and one girl named Athena, Ricky and Blue rose. One day they were having a picnic at Mount Wellington. When suddenly...

As they were about to climb back down the mountain it was about to erupt and they were freaking out and they were crying as they tried to climb down. They were running as fast as they could but they were just too slow for the flowing lava. So they found this tunnel and ran underneath it and they were safe.

As the lava was oozing out of the mountain like caramel sauce on a cake they were still in the tunnel praying for some help but help didn’t come. So they waited until the lava has gone so they talked about dying and talked about how they never thought this day was coming they they didn’t hear anything. So when they came out of the tunnel they didn’t know where home was because it has been so long since they came out and the year was 2013-3321.

As they were trying to get back to where they lived they heard a noise coming from underneath the ground so they were digging and digging and they found a hatch that lead to this underground place where everyone kept save from the lava and all were safe and they lived happily ever after... Acrostic Love Poem

Living life emotional times love will never make you cry,
Love is like a potion that helps you find the special, man or women in your life.
When you get married you set vows of passion, promise and never say love isn’t honest.
Love is something that you cherish and hold till the day you die,
Love isn’t something you waste,
Love is something you keep for a lifetime.
Love is what you die for and keep a place in your heart for.

Geometrical Pattern

Today I had to create and describe a geometrical pattern. This is the shape I created using folding symmetry.
I can see that my shape has one line of symmetry.
To create my pattern, I folded my paper two times, cut out designs and unfolded it again. This is a fun and easy geometry activity that really got us thinking.

Wednesday Grammar and Punctuation Worksheet Marking

Writing worksheet: Re write the following sentence, add in the correct grammar, punctuation, full stops and capital letters:

For inquiry this term our class has learnt about state of matter.I have found out many things about the density liquids, gases, solids and how matter of particular substances change when the temperature is changed.
An example of this would be water, when frozen water become a solid because it turns into ice. When the room temperature water is a liquid when it’s heated water becomes gas as it is steam, another example would be chocolate. From learning about states of matter I know that different materials have different densities. However not everyone knows what density means. Density is how tightly or closely the particles of a material are I know that from our particle layer party experiment that honey and golden syrup are denser than water and methylated spirit.
I learnt about state of matter because it’s interesting and helps me better to understand the way things work?

Mark Lowndes

On Wednesday the 13th of February we were excited enough to interview Mark Lowndes. He is a famous for his appearance in Australias Got Talent. Miss Aireen organized our interview, which we did online using Google chat. He sang us a beautiful song he made in the islands called “No good bye”. The five things that I learnt about  Mark Lowndes is that he got to meet lots of celebrities called, Nesian mystic, Boys to men, Black seeds. He has made it into the semi final in Australia's Got Talent  and one more thing is that the only red carpet he has walked on is the one at his church. He left us with the message saying to follow your dreams, never give up, be confident and be patient. I felt positive. Below is a video of Mark lowndes.

My Aspiration and Inspiration Presentation

My Individual Description

My name is Wiremu I am a year 7 student at Tamaki primary school who likes to play sports anytime and anywhere. In school I would like to achieve lots of goals like making it up to 4B in reading and writing.

The part I think is interesting about my family is that they achieve lots of things like my 4th biggest brother has achieved his goal by making it into all of the NRL teams, my mum has achieved a goal to be a teacher aide at my school and my 2nd biggest brother has achieved a goal by having his first baby named Dayton he is the cutest baby in the world.

My community is Panmure, it is a crazy suburb where people have fights, car crashes, people getting run over and people doing big burnouts in there car but it is still a beautiful community.

My hobbies are collecting Bob Marley things, playing on the computer and fighting with my brothers. The sports I like are rugby, rugby league, soccer and touch. My culture is Maori it is a very interesting culture. The thing what makes my culture interesting is that they care about one another and they make lots of different weapons.

My hopes are when I grow up I would want to be like my 4th brother and make it into every NRL team like him. Four things that I fear is the song shine bright like a diamond, sharks, ghost and big spiders.

My Family Poem

Ari is a hippo, who eats too much and he is also a kind loving person,
Taylor is bulky, but a slight big person who plays lots of sports,
Daniel is a tall giant that makes it into every league team there is,
Charday is a tall giraffe who is anoying when she gets in trouble from my mum.
My Dad is the king of the jungle who doesn't let anyone sit in his seat when we are watching t.v,
Kauri is the next Usain Bolt but he is annoying like a little fly who keeps flying on you.
I am the trouble maker who is going to be like Daniel when I grow up.
Last but not least my Mum... she is the queen of the jungle who hunts for the food so we don’t starve.
